I’m a preceptor!
I just started precepting a new nurse at work. It’s a very interesting experience so far. I have learned so much about nursing education. I have decided that I that I want to go into nursing education in the future of my career. The nurse that I am precepting so smart. I don’t think I was this good when I started. She has been on the floor for only 3 days, she has just fallen into the flow of the floor. She is very willing to help and is constantly looking for new learning experiences. There is still so much I need to teach her. I hope that we have the time before she is off of orientation.
When my manager asked me to precept a new nurse I was blow away. I believe that first reaction was are you sure you want me to do this? There are other nurses with much more experience than me. (I have been working as a nurse for like 1 year and 8 months, I also have a bit of an attitude occasinally with the doctors.) She was very confident that I would do a good job at precepting. I hope I do a good job. I think I will, I love teaching and explaining things to people.

Polar Bear in Flames. Global Warming / Climate Change?
The image is an allegory of the impact global warming / climate change is having on the polar bears at Churchill, the southernmost population. Less time with ice in Hudson Bay means less time for catching food and more time without food, leaving bears and their cubs undernourished.
The photograph was taken as the polar bear shook off ice crystals which reflected the late red sun behind it to create the effect of flames
